About The Position

As an Electronic Technician at Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries , Chicago, IL , this role is responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of production equipment to maximize quality, uptime, rate, and yield. Under direct supervision, this position programs and troubleshoots programmable logic controls (PLCs) and computer-based control systems that govern equipment operation. This role is ideal for individuals with strong electrical and PLC expertise who thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment and prioritize safety and reliability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • 5 years of experience performing related electrical work in an industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to equipment operation and process conditions
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude with the ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Comfortable interfacing with computer-based systems and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
  • Perform work in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Stand, walk, climb, and work at elevated heights as required
  • Perform repetitive tasks and manual operations

Nice To Haves

  • Trade or technical school diploma in programmable logic control design and programming, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote safe and healthy work practices in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies, including lockout/tagout and arc flash procedures
  • Perform electrical maintenance across the plant, including industrial control systems, power systems, AC and DC drives, and crane systems
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives, relays, and associated electrical components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose equipment issues
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Prepare reports and document work performed in accordance with company requirements
  • Work rotating shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance
