About The Position

The Electrician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of all facility electrical systems at AAAF, including lighting systems, power distribution, fire detection and suppression systems, UPS systems, airfield lighting, and specialized equipment. This role ensures electrical components are compliant with applicable codes and standards and provides 24/7 support for mission-critical systems and emergency repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be qualified in accordance with AFMAN 32-1065.
  • Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility electrical maintenance or a related field.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Must be capable of working in extreme environmental conditions (heat, humidity, dust).
  • Must meet deployment requirements including medical clearance, background checks, and fit testing for PPE.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
  • Strong understanding of the NEC and electrical safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting electrical systems and applying preventive maintenance.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school or trade certification in Electrical Systems preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training preferred.
  • Experience with DoD, airfield, or government facility electrical systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair (OM&R) of low-voltage electrical components including wiring, lighting, panel boards, circuit breakers, and receptacles IAW NEC, UFC 3-560-01, and AFI 32-2001.
  • Maintain accurate panel records and update locator cards with system modifications or upgrades.
  • Respond to and resolve emergency or unscheduled electrical outages within 30 minutes, 24/7/365.
  • Conduct pre-operational system checks within five days prior to critical facility use.
  • Ensure 100% availability of mission-essential systems during range-critical days.
  • Inspect and maintain facility grounding systems, including sea and chemical grounds, at least annually and post-lightning strikes.
  • Perform monthly inspections of sea grounds and initiate repairs within 48 hours of detecting deficiencies.
  • Ensure only qualified electricians perform grounding system maintenance in accordance with AFMAN 32-1065 and ASTM standards.
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair all fire alarm and suppression systems, including kitchen hoods, IAW UFC 3-601-02, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and NFPA 96.
  • Perform cross-connection inspections for water-based systems and prevent backflow.
  • Submit inspection and maintenance reports to the COR as scheduled with zero late reports.
  • Respond to fire system impairments within 30 minutes.
  • Maintain and repair airfield lighting and navigational aids IAW AFMAN 32-1040 and UFC 3-535-01.
  • Prioritize restoral of airfield systems immediately upon outage as emergency tasks.
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair or replace Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) and batteries according to T.O.s or manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure zero discrepancies for UPS during mission-critical operations.
  • Maintain compliance with BUILDER SMS data for electrical infrastructure and update any deviations.
  • Participate in acceptance testing of new fire or electrical systems.
  • Coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and repairs with COR, Fire Department, and Facility Managers.
  • The Electrician may be assigned additional responsibilities or support tasks as directed by the Electrical Supervisor, COR, or other leadership in order to meet mission requirements or respond to emergencies.
