The electrician is responsible for the diagnostic and repairs of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. Troubleshoots malfunctions, service and operates electrical equipment using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, load banks and hand tools.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least three (3) to six (6) years of experience in electrical maintenance or an equivalent.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver’s License with no restrictions.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.
Applicant must furnish their own serviceable, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, tools, that are appropriate for their required duties. Tools must meet the OSHA Regulations 1910 Subpar P

Responsibilities

Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on electrical support equipment.
Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating/Ac units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
Tests, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains electrical equipment of a specialized nature such as automatic alternator synchronizing equipment, amplifying control units, voltage regulating equipment, generators, switching and control panels, and junction boxes, in motor vehicles such as automobiles, buses and trucks.
Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies. Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TMs) and/or Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs).
Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
Researches and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports.
Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
