The Electrician will Install, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and distribution systems involving work of a varied nature with minimum supervision. Must have thorough knowledge of electrical codes regarding installation of electrical systems. Must have a minimum of four years’ experience in the electrical maintenance field with the knowledge and understanding of high voltage and low voltage distribution systems. Shift: Mon.-Fri. 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Saturday/Sunday Off) Pay Rate: $43.67/per hour ESSENTIAL & OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Keep records, write reports and identify electrical materials. Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches and/or verbal instructions to plan, layout and install electrical equipment. Must work on ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolds, and pits. Read, write, understand and carry out oral and written instructions in English. Establish and maintain a positive cooperative working relationship with supervisors, fellow workers, department heads and other members of the campus community. Work in an environment subject to frequent changing of priorities and time deadlines. Manually lift up to 60 pounds. Heavier material or equipment is lifted using other methods. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair any of the variety of electrical equipment or systems, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, motors, motor starters, conduit systems, and fire alarm systems. Install and maintain wiring systems, fixtures and emergency lighting systems in existing buildings. Make necessary computations relating to load requirements. Must utilize a variety of electrician’s tools and testing instruments. Must have good working knowledge of control systems, electric and pneumatic, in order to make minor repairs and adjustments. Must observe safety rules and regulations at all times. OSHA 10 training preferred. Must have sufficient knowledge of HVAC and plumbing equipment to make minor repairs and adjustments. Must have sufficient knowledge in the installation of meters and related equipment wherever requested on campus. Must be a high school or trade school graduate. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess a Massachusetts State Journeyman’s license. This list is representative of those duties and responsibilities that are required of this position.
