About The Position

The electrician II role is responsible for light and heavy-duty maintenance tasks in assigned areas throughout campus. The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable vehicle for on-campus transportation
  • Diploma from a recognized trade school specializing in HVAC, plumbing or electrical work or 5 years’ commensurate experience in maintenance- or construction-related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Above-average knowledge of construction practices and materials
  • Above-average knowledge of electricity and electrical systems
  • Above-average understanding of building systems
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment and hand-powered tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks according to specifications
  • Strong professional integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to use good judgment and think critically
  • Ability to traverse campus in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, squat, reach and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout shift
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to report to work during emergencies, unless otherwise notified
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
  • Ability to report to campus within one hour when on call

Responsibilities

  • Maintains buildings and facilities
  • Performs maintenance as directed
  • Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC, plumbing, electrical and any other work as directed
  • Keeps maintenance areas clean and organized
  • Prioritizes workload to ensure efficiency
  • Supervises and performs electrical repairs as directed
  • Uses work order system to log time and work performed
  • Adheres strictly to safety standards and practices
  • Utilizes all available skills to find, troubleshoot and repair issues that would otherwise be detrimental to university-owned property
  • Maintains all tools and equipment
  • Initiates work as needed
  • Maintains work uniform appearance
  • Participates in continuing education courses and/or code compliance seminars
  • Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports and holds others accountable to the university’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity and teamwork
  • Coordinates complex activities with co-workers
  • Communicates additional needs to management
  • Maintains radio communication with management and staff at all times
  • Job may require other duties as assigned.
