About The Position

The University of Maine System is looking for a skilled Electrical Specialist (High Voltage) CL3 to work on our high-voltage systems. In this job, you will install, fix, and take care of the electrical power across the campus. You will be our expert for finding and fixing electrical problems to keep the campus safe and the lights on. Your main tasks will include checking and repairing both high-voltage and low-voltage systems. You will install equipment like transformers and switchgear while following all safety rules and codes. You must be able to read and understand blueprints and wiring diagrams for motors, pumps, and valves. You will also work with engineers and managers to make sure new building projects are done right. Other duties include figuring out what materials are needed for a job, keeping digital records, and sometimes checking the work of other staff or contractors. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with availability to assist with emergencies after hours. This position is designated as an essential position requiring the individual to be able to work during periods of inclement weather and/or campus emergencies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related electrical experience.
  • Must possess a valid State of Maine Master Electrician’s license (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Ability to lift/exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, and 50 pounds frequently. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid State of Maine driver’s license.
