The Electrical Shop Supervisor will provide consistent management and procedures for the electrical trade shop in University Housing Facilities. The University Housing Facilities team provides daily work order response to over 3.5M square feet of building inventory. This position will work with University Housing Facilities' in-house project management team to ensure that the electrical portion of in-house projects are completed on time, within budget and according to local, state, and national codes. The successful candidate will demonstrate expert proficiency in the use and maintenance of all tools of the trade, coupled with the ability to plan, lay out complex work, and develop detailed designs from rough sketches or verbal instructions. This role requires frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds and the occasional ability to lift up to 60 pounds. The Electrical Shop Supervisor serves as the first-line supervisor over a single-trade unit, sets mid-long range maintenance goals and objectives and prioritizes activities and tasks, prepares alternative plans to meet changing conditions and ensures timely task accomplishment, and coordinates a wide variety of facility maintenance operational, diagnostic, and repair services. Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in the trade(s) areas assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Electrical license required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, and processes of the electrical trade.
  • Experience working with residence hall buildings and electrical systems strongly preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical instruments, apparatus, and equipment.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others and to establish effective work relationships.
  • Ability to interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and oral instructions.
