About The Position

CR&R Incorporated is one of Southern California's most innovative and successful environmental recycling collection companies, serving more than 3 million people and over 25,000 businesses throughout Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Imperial and Riverside counties. In addition, we also have operations in AZ, CO, NV, OR, UT, and WA. We are looking for a skilled, experienced, and hands-on Shop Supervisor to lead and support our team of mechanics in the maintenance and repair of diesel and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) trucks. This position requires a working supervisor who is capable of performing mechanical tasks alongside the team while overseeing day-to-day shop operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel or CNG technician, with supervisory or lead tech experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine and CNG system diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate and mentor a team
• Familiarity with diagnostic software and service tools
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• ASE certifications or equivalent are a plus
• CDL preferred but not required

Nice To Haves

• Experience with both heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks
• Familiarity with DOT compliance and inspection standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel and CNG trucks as needed, setting the standard for quality and efficiency.
• Supervise and work alongside a team of mechanics, providing guidance, training, and technical support to ensure jobs are completed correctly and on time.
• Assign tasks based on job priority and technician skill level. Monitor progress and adjust workloads to meet deadlines and operational demands.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, completeness, and safety compliance. Address issues proactively and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
• Promote and enforce shop safety policies and procedures. Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Serve as a liaison between mechanics and management. Provide job updates, report issues, and ensure clear communication across all levels.
• Ensure technicians have the parts and tools needed for assigned jobs. Coordinate with parts staff to minimize delays due to shortages.
