Why Join Us | DuPont Careers Electrical Reliability Engineer DuPont is seeking an Electrical Power & Reliability Engineer for our Cooper River Plant in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. DuPont Cooper River Plant rests on the banks of the Cooper River in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. We work hard every day to uphold the highest standards of safe plant operation for the protection of our employees, our environment, and our community. We manufacture materials used in various machinery, aerospace and automotive industries. The Manufacturing Technology Power & Reliability Engineer will provide day-to-day technical expertise and reliability support for the power distribution and major electrical equipment at the site. The successful candidate will join an integrated team, including process chemical, mechanical, and Automation & Process Controls Engineers. The responsibilities of the position include monitoring of site power infrastructure, solution of electrical reliability problems, identifying and implementing electrical equipment improvements, and leading teams and/or projects for longer-term improvements and utility cost-savings initiatives.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience.
  • Through knowledge of electrical equipment selection/specification, calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Thorough knowledge of E&I drawings including electrical schematics, logic diagrams and P&I diagrams.
  • Thorough knowledge of AC motors & drives.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution systems, including substations, power transformers, rectifiers, etc., ranging from 480V through 13.8Kv.
  • Knowledge of electrical regulations and standards, including OSHA 1910.300’s, 1910.269, National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and Process Safety Management (PSM) process, and value for safety rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Six Sigma or reliability analytical problem-solving tools.
  • Good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and have great attention to detail.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Ability to provide training to electrical resources.
  • Ability to learn and work independently.
  • Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions including operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Predictive Electrical Asset Care tools, including: PDMA, Thermography, Motor/Current Analysis, etc.
  • SKM’s Power Tools for Windows skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work on multi-disciplined teams to execute projects.
  • Providing electrical engineering expertise for the major electrical equipment & power infrastructure at the site.
  • Troubleshooting major electrical issues & providing technical support to the operations & maintenance teams as required.
  • Leading or participating on teams upgrading electrical equipment ranging from incremental improvements to major technology changes.
  • Executing the change management processes to execute improvements in equipment and control (Process change requests, Change of design, etc.).
  • Identifying, developing the scope, front-end loading, and leading minor, and medium Capital improvement projects, as well as leading the electrical part on major capital improvement projects.
  • Size, maintain and provide technical support for the electrical distribution system, including AC and DC power, process and utility equipment.
  • Develop and manage reliability programs for electrical equipment, including specific work procedures, Preventative and Predictive maintenance programs.
  • Support, develop and implement strategies for improving reliability of instrumentation and process monitoring equipment.
  • Analyze and drive utility usage & cost savings programs.
