Summer Internship - Electrical / Mechanical Assembler
About The Position
This opportunity would be great for candidates looking to get into the trades or engineering. End of Internship Bonus: Candidates who work from June until the middle of August will receive a $1,000.00 bonus at the end of their internship. Your schedule: Monday through Friday 1st Shift, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM What you will accomplish as an Electrical / Mechanical Assembler at TAPCO: Ensuring that customers receive finished products per the sales order. This position assembles, programs, and tests BTS Blinker signs, blinker paddles, RRFB, Beacons, ETO Blinker Signs, and DirecTimes. The position operates within a cell work environment where standardized work, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S principles are practiced. This position reports to the Production Manager.
Requirements
- 16+ years old

- Able to lift up to 35 lbs. and able to stand for 75% of the day.
Responsibilities
- Assembles custom orders according to engineered-to-order standards and documentation
- Programs and tests finished products
- Pack products into wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers using protective padding.
- Participates in cell changeovers from part to part
- Performs minor maintenance
- Solves routine problems
- Learns Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles and practice them on a daily basis
- Conducts regular 5S audits and quality audits and checks
- Shares and supports ideas for improvement in group meetings
- Participates in group and individual improvement activities with team members, engineering, and management
- Helps implement and support improvement ideas
- Communicate with the Cell/Team Leader, Planner, and Management as required
