About The Position

Assist engineering in all phases of the design, development, production, testing, operation, and maintenance of electrical equipment, tools, and industrial machinery while conforming to NQA-1 requirements. Provide assistance to the Engineering Manager on projects related to the production of PSC products. This role involves reviewing project drawings/instructions to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems, and possible solutions. The intern will design/draft detail drawings using CAD and fabricate modified prototype components using electrical subcomponents. Product support includes providing technical assistance to PSC Engineers under the guidance of the Engineering Manager, assisting with project assignments, resources, decisions, and administrative needs, working with Procurement and Facilities for material purchasing and scheduling, and supporting source inspections. Technical support responsibilities involve developing/testing equipment, applying knowledge of electrical and/or nuclear engineering technology, providing input into project drawings/instructions, ensuring efficient movement of product parts and assemblies, achieving manufacturing, assembly, and testing milestones, coordinating with other departments, ensuring training matrix verification, communicating issues to the project manager, and ensuring proper care of all parts. The intern will also set up and conduct tests, modify or adjust equipment, develop test procedures, record test results, provide document recommendations, and operate electrical test equipment.

  • Basic knowledge in electrical and/or nuclear engineering technology

Nice To Haves

  • Two plus years in project management or support preferable
  • Intermediate knowledge and/or college work towards an electrical and/or nuclear engineering technology a plus
  • Basic knowledge in CAD (i.e., AutoCAD, KiCAD, etc.) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings/instructions to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions, such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies
  • Design/draft detail drawings using CAD (i.e., AutoCAD, KiCAD, etc.)
  • Fabricate modified prototype components using electrical subcomponents (i.e., contacts, terminals, wiring, etc.)
  • Continue to provide technical support on projects to PSC Engineers under the guidance of the Engineering Manager in partnership with the PSC Site Leader as needed
  • Assist Engineering Manager with project assignments, resources, decisions, and administrative needs as requested
  • Work with Procurement and Facilities who will be leading the purchasing of materials and scheduling of parts (common and procured) to ensure all are being managed and flows smoothly
  • Support source inspections with the Engineering Manager, Engineers, and Customers
  • Develop/test equipment and apply knowledge of electrical and/or nuclear engineering technology under direction of engineering staff
  • Provide input into project drawings/instructions to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, including possible solutions, such as part redesign, substitution of material of parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies under the direction of the Engineering Manager
  • Ensure product parts and assemblies move from step to step with minimal delay
  • Responsible for achieving milestones for manufacturing, assembly, and testing
  • Coordinate manufacturing and testing with other departments
  • Ensure appropriate personnel are tasked with training matrix verification
  • Communicate with project manager and directly report any and all issues in descriptive manner (start NCR process when applicable)
  • Ensure proper care of all parts
  • Setup and conduct tests under operational conditions to investigate and analyze results in relation to design specifications and test objectives
  • Modify or adjust equipment to meet requirements
  • Develop test procedures, record test results, and provide document recommendations
  • Operates electrical test equipment and assembles parts as needed
  • All other duties as required
