About The Position

Are you passionate about designing real hardware and seeing your circuits come to life in production? Anderson-Negele is seeking a highly hands-on Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Spartanburg, SC. In this role, you will take ownership of electronic hardware design for industrial hygienic sensors and measurement systems, working directly on schematic design, PCB development, board bring-up, and hardware validation. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing partners and cross-functional teams to bring robust circuit designs from concept through production. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys deep involvement in circuit design, PCB development, debugging, and hands-on lab work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Strong experience with schematic design and PCB development
  • Proficiency in hardware CAD tools such as Altium, KiCad, or Eagle
  • Experience with board bring-up, circuit debugging, and hardware validation
  • Solid understanding of: Analog and mixed-signal circuit design Microcontroller-based systems Power regulation and signal conditioning circuits
  • Experience working with PCB manufacturers and contract manufacturers
  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation and electrical test equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial instrumentation or sensor systems
  • Familiarity with hygienic processing environments (food, beverage, pharmaceutical)
  • Experience with RF, wireless communication, or IoT connectivity
  • Knowledge of regulatory certification processes (UL, CSA, CE)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic circuits and schematics for industrial sensing and measurement products
  • Create and maintain PCB designs using CAD tools such as Altium, KiCad, or Eagle
  • Participate directly in PCB layout development and design reviews
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, and component selection to ensure robust and manufacturable designs
  • Design analog, mixed-signal, and microcontroller-based circuits
  • Work with PCB manufacturers and assembly vendors to review layouts, resolve design questions, and ensure manufacturability
  • Support prototype builds and production ramp-up
  • Review Gerbers, stack-ups, BOMs, and fabrication documentation
  • Collaborate with vendors to diagnose and resolve manufacturing or assembly issues
  • Perform board bring-up and functional validation of newly manufactured PCBs
  • Debug hardware issues using lab equipment such as: Oscilloscopes Multimeters Spectrum analyzers Logic analyzers Power analyzers
  • Conduct root cause analysis of hardware failures
  • Develop and execute test plans for hardware verification and validation
  • Implement hardware updates to improve reliability, performance, and cost
  • Support component obsolescence management and redesign efforts
  • Perform value engineering and design optimization
  • Ensure designs maintain compliance with regulatory standards (CE, UL, CSA, RoHS)
  • Work closely with manufacturing, firmware, quality, and product management teams
  • Communicate design intent and technical details to internal teams and external vendors
  • Support troubleshooting of field issues and manufacturing defects
