Position Summary: As an Electrical Engineer you will provide electrical engineering solutions for commercial and industrial color measurement instrumentation products. In this role, you will support the Research and Development team across multiple projects and experiments and collaborate with manufacturing and operations to transfer designs into production.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of electrical engineering design experience
  • Experience with Altium Designer.
  • Experience with schematic entry and circuit simulation.
  • Experience with PCB layout, including interfacing with mechanical engineers.
  • Experience with designing and troubleshooting electronic circuits.
  • Experience with current microcontrollers and C programming language.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing-based environment.
  • Experience managing a product development project independently from initial concept through final prototype stage.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite Software products.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus given our global footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and interpret high level design requirements to conceptualize and generate electrical engineering design solutions and specifications that contribute toward our next generation of Spectrophotometers, Colorimeters, and Color Imaging Instruments.
  • Develop schematics, BOM, PCB layouts, and Gerber file packages for the PCBAs that drive our scientific color measurement instruments, all while following the best practices in DFMA.
  • Follow a detailed checklist for double-checking all your own PCBA design work to catch any mistakes before the designs go to fabrication. Use, maintain, and update that checklist.
  • Design and troubleshoot the analog & digital circuits of innovative opto-electrical designs involving optical sensors.
  • Develop firmware using the latest software development tools.
  • Contribute to design review meetings.
  • Participate within a cross-functional design team.
  • Work with Research team including Optical and Software engineers and Color Scientists.
  • Work closely with engineering technicians for prototype builds, experiments, data collection, and analysis.
  • Communicate openly all the details of any mistakes or issues found during the development of a project to management and all relevant team members involved, including providing several options on how to correct the issue and mitigate risk in both the short and long term.
  • Develop and document test protocols and procedures.
  • Determine and evaluate instrument performance specifications.
  • Evaluate third part solutions to meet our application needs.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technological trends and their impact.
