About The Position

Teal's electrical engineers are responsible for their designs from conception to sustaining. As an Electrical Engineer 1 you work under the supervision of more senior engineers to design and test subcircuits, PCBAs of low complexity, and cable assemblies. Most of your work is in support of more senior engineers throughout the design cycle. As you gain experience you will be assigned ownership of parts of the design with increasing complexity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Proficiency in use of laboratory test equipment
  • Excellent communication skills in writing reports and corresponding with manufacturers
  • Basic experience in Altium Designer
  • Basic experience with a SPICE-based circuit simulator
  • Experience using a programming language to automate testing, interface with test equipment, and process and visualize test results (Python is preferred)
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.
  • May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations.
  • Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed
  • Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.
  • This position will require successfully completing a post-offer background check.

Responsibilities

  • Design subcircuits that are incorporated into larger designs
  • Assist in evaluation of components and subcircuits
  • Assist in trade studies to evaluate new technologies that may be incorporated into Teal’s designs
  • Execute Engineering Verification Test (EVT) procedures and write reports documenting EVT test results
  • Troubleshoot issues uncovered in EVT, DVT, and reported by customers in the field
  • Design cable assemblies
  • Design simple PCBAs that may be used within larger designs or used to test design functionality
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Perform detailed reviews of library components, footprints, and symbols
  • Work with manufacturing test engineers and senior electrical engineers to develop production line tests by leveraging the engineering validation test procedures and results
  • Perform sustaining engineering on existing designs to manage cost and component obsolescence
