Leidos’ Defense Systems Manufacturing Segment is seeking an Electrical Engineer/ Manufacturing Test Engineer 2nd Shift to join our National Space Systems Integration & Test team located in Huntsville, AL. As a Manufacturing Test Engineer you will participate in leading in the planning/execution of electrical test operations and will be responsible for developing automated test scripts, procedures, and other documentation needed to conduct spaceflight hardware testing at the factory. This position will require frequent coordination with Planning & Production Control, Engineers, and Operations Leads to ensure that testing will occur as planned. As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will be overseeing and optimizing the production process, from raw materials to finished products, to ensure efficiency and quality. The type of material is expected to be electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical. This position will require frequent coordination with Planning & Production Control, Engineers, and Operations Leads to ensure that material will be available when needed and that proper documentation is in place for floor operations. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 to 4 years with prior relevant experience or Masters degree in electrical engineering or other engineering degree with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Basic experience with Manufacturing, Assembly & Integration and Test experience with Electrical, Electromechanical and/or Mechanical components.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift, hours of operation are 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, includes a 30 minute lunch. Training will occur on 1st shift - must have ability to work 1st shift for a few weeks while training occurs prior to moving to 2nd shift.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test operations including set-up calibration & operation of GSE used in the production process.
  • Experience with test execution.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and equipment including some of these: soldering, mechanical assembly, epoxy dispensing and curing, conformal coating, thermal interface material dispense/application, Automated Optical Inspection, component/assembly test, etc.
  • Experience working inside a clean room.
  • Deltek, Costpoint ERP & MRP, Solumina, Windchill.
  • Working knowledge and operation of electronic test equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, voltmeter, signal analyzer/generator).
  • Working knowledge of software languages such as Python.
  • Experience with Linux, GIT, and Arduino devices.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Testing to meet project schedules.
  • Use of MES software (Solumina) for executing test plans for development, qualification, and acceptance phases of hardware projects.
  • Generate/Modify test routings inside Solumina
  • Identify and execute on continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify and reduce risks in the production testing processes.
  • Responsible for executing Configuration & Data Management processes & controls for managing & tracking changes.
  • Defines manufacturing processes, procedures and production flow for test of space products.
  • Resolve problems related to production jobs such as configuration changes, engineering changes, material issues, schedule priority, etc.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, and Inventory Control.
  • Completing requirements verification and validation documentation and reports.
  • Debugging software and/or hardware with various tools.
