About The Position

The Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in designing cutting-edge tactical communication systems that empower the United States (U.S.) military, ensuring mission success through innovation, reliability, and compliance with military standards. This role offers the chance to work on advanced technologies, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and gain hands-on experience with military-grade systems and compliance standards. The Electrical Engineer leads the concept phase, design activities, reviews and reports the design’s progress with minimal supervision. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring initiative, originality, ingenuity and excellent problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent analysis skills, advanced electrical engineering experience and a great understanding of power electronics and complex electrical designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in electrical engineering with more than four (4) years of experience in electronics manufacturing in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries
  • Must be able to perform electrical layouts as well as schematic capture
  • Must have a solid understanding of digital and analog circuitry. A strong understanding of Direct Current (DC) power electronics is required.
  • Familiarity with Military Standard (MIL-STD)-461, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing
  • Experience with electrical Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modeling systems (i.e. Altium, Orcad) required
  • Strong quantitative, design, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a background check and/or security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: No clearance required, but ability to obtain, if need, required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in electrical engineering with more than two (2) year of experience in electronics manufacturing in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries
  • Department of Defense (DoD) experience
  • Altium experience

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the electrical design for the project with very little supervision. This includes doing the complete electrical design, creating schematics, conducting layouts, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with the Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) supplier, and Bill of Materials (BOM) generation.
  • Lead electrical hardware component selection/optimization for the design
  • Design and document robust hardware architecture and structure suitable for use in high reliability embedded applications
  • Take full accountability for electrical system design, from concept through production, ensuring quality, reliability, and adherence to military specifications
  • Construct prototypes (to include soldering, fitment, rework); evaluate and document their performance; identify possible improvements
  • Perform worst-case circuit analysis on paper and do circuit simulations.
  • Perform de-ratings for the entire electrical design
  • Provide necessary sustaining support to existing products and work in a cross-functional team environment to assure electrical system-level integration and design for manufacturability.
  • Conduct comprehensive Electrical Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs) to ensure designs exceed customer and regulatory requirements
  • Explore new and existing circuit designs and methods to solve design challenges
  • Maintain an awareness of customer requirements and complaints to identify areas that may need development or improvement.
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Prepare technical data packages for manufacturing
  • Establish a culture of learning, openness, and accountability
  • Perform any additional related duties as assigned
