Electrical Engineer Intern Position Overview T. Baker Smith is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer Intern to support our project teams in delivering high-quality engineering solutions. This role provides hands-on experience working under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer and offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of a wide range of engineering projects. The ideal candidate will assist in technical design, project coordination, and production of deliverables while gaining valuable industry experience in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support to Project Engineers and Project Managers. Assist in the development and design of engineering projects. Evaluate design alternatives and analyze key engineering parameters. Contribute to the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Produce and revise drawings, sketches, and technical plans. Review and analyze field data, calculations, and project documentation. Conduct research on materials, specifications, and applicable regulations. Support coordination of project tasks with internal team members. Communicate project updates, workload changes, and scope adjustments. Help ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Maintain organized project files and documentation. Participate in professional development and ongoing training. Promote company services to clients and support business development efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline) from an accredited university. 1-3 years of relevant experience Ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam within 12 months of employment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings and complex documents. Proficiency in engineering and design software, as well as Microsoft Office applications. Work Environment Primarily office-based with periodic visits to project sites. Exposure to site conditions including noise, dust, and varying environmental factors during field visits. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for computer and technical work. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary. Visual abilities including close, distance, and color vision. Work Schedule Full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week . Occasional evenings and weekends may be required based on project needs.
