About The Position

Motivair by Schneider Electric is a global leader in advanced liquid cooling solutions engineered to meet the most demanding thermal and electrical challenges of modern computing and power‑distribution technology. Our ETO organization delivers customized solutions supporting hyperscale data centers, HPC infrastructure, and mission‑critical digital operations. The Electrical Engineer for the Engineering‑to‑Order (ETO) team is responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating custom electrical systems and components for Motivair’s liquid‑cooling and integrated power products. This role requires strong technical judgment, deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, and the ability to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in industrial equipment, power systems, controls, or thermal‑management solutions.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, grounding, control circuits, sensors, and communication protocols.
  • Experience with UL/CE compliance, NEC, IEC, and other electrical standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical standards.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with variable‑frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, MCCs, and power‑electronic components.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, Profinet).
  • Knowledge of PLC programming fundamentals and control panel design.
  • Experience with electrical testing, commissioning, and field support activities.
  • Exposure to CFD/thermal modeling tools or power‑system simulation software.
  • Understanding of Lean, DFMA, and standardized engineering processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single‑line diagrams, and control system architectures, including e-panel design.
  • Perform load calculations, protection coordination, component sizing, and electrical performance modeling.
  • Generate 2D/3D electrical layouts, routing, harness designs, and documentation packages for production.
  • Support PLC, sensor, and control‑logic integration with cross‑functional teams.
  • Interpret customer specifications, standards, and compliance requirements to develop custom ETO solutions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, manufacturing, supply chain, and field teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues during build, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Maintain accurate BOMs, revision control, and adherence to internal engineering standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and development of reusable electrical design modules.
