Stantec is looking for an Electrical CAD Drafter Intern to join the Electrical & Controls Team of our BC2350 Facilities and Process Engineering Group for the summer of 2026, based out of the Minneapolis, MN area. In this role, you will work closely with engineers, designers, and business professionals primarily on industrial manufacturing and/or food-based projects.

Requirements

• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with both clients and project team members, with a strong customer service attitude.
• Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining project files and information received from clients and vendors.
• Basic understanding of task hour estimating and being accountable for personal hour budgets.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
• Currently enrolled in a CAD drafting/design program at a technical college, with a focus and/or interest in the electrical discipline

Nice To Haves

• 0-2 years of relevant intern experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• As an Electrical Drafter Intern, you will be fully immersed in the Electrical & Controls Engineering team.
• You will learn to translate engineering concepts into technical reality by creating one-line diagrams, schematics, and plan drawings.
• We will teach you how to interpret complex electrical symbology, properly set up drawings using 2D/3D x-refs, and execute redline revisions.
• You will also have the opportunity to develop 3D modeling skills, learning to integrate electrical components—such as panels, conduits, and cable trays—into overall multi-discipline project models.
