Department - Recorders Office Job Description OPEN UNTIL FILLED Job Type: Classified Job Classification: 5941 - Elections Aide Salary Grade: 1 Pay Range Hiring Range: $16.54 - $19.44 Per Hour Pay Range: $16.54 - $22.34 Per Hour Range Explanation: Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position. The first review of applications will be on 03/27/2026 . The Pima County Recorder’s Office is hiring multiple part-time, intermittent employees to assist with election-related tasks. Tasks include but not limited to the following areas: Ballot Processing Opening and separating large quantities of mail. Scanning / Sorting. Manually count envelopes against reports. Complete reports of work processed. Signature Verification Operating specialized computer programs. Must participate in Forensic Signature Verification Training. Courier (Driving and Transport) Operate delivery vehicles; loading, unloading, and transportation of ballots and election supplies. Receiving, storing, and distributing supplies. Assisting in ballot processing tasks. Early Voting Site Staffing Greeting and checking in voters. Checking IDs, ensuring they meet statutory requirements. Issuing and receiving ballots. Troubleshooting and communicating issues with site monitors. Data Entry Answering phones and greeting office guests. Performing clerical work involving the preparation and processing of materials used in the early voting process. Entry of paper forms into specialized computer programs. Making phone calls to voters. Phone Banks Answering phones and assisting the public with questions regarding their registration and voting locations. Work in bi-partisan teams to processes early ballots for tabulation; Prepares election supplies and voting machines for delivery to poll locations; Makes minor mechanical repairs on voting equipment; Loads and unloads election supplies and other materials; Transports and receives election ballots, returns, and precinct supplies; Work in a bi-partisan team to troubleshoot problems on election day; Provides information to voters concerning the election. Minimum Qualifications: Must be a registered voter with current registration in Pima County. (Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment may be substituted.) Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. (For all positions that apply) Selection Procedure: Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process. Supplemental Information: Licenses and Certificates : Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record. Special Notice Items : The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Must be available to work on-call, as needed, and work overtime for extended periods of time. Physical/Sensory Requirements : Constantly required to exchange accurate information. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery. Constantly observes details at close range. Frequently remains in a stationary position. Occasionally moves about inside an office. Occasionally moves office equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions : Constantly works in an indoor environment.
