About The Position

Think Academy is seeking an ELA Curriculum Design Expert to identify engaging, age-appropriate, and educationally valuable books, develop ELA reading and writing course syllabi aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and integrate key assessment frameworks like MAP, i-Ready, and state-level standardized tests. This role involves mapping core reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to selected literary works and delineating in-class and independent reading portions. Requirements

  • Proven experience in curriculum framework design or textbook/material development.
  • 5+ years of K–5 ELA classroom teaching experience, preferably including 2nd and 3rd grade.
  • Deep understanding of classroom dynamics, student learning patterns, and common challenges in literacy instruction.
  • Deep familiarity with CCSS for ELA and state-level testing requirements.
  • Working knowledge of standardized assessments such as MAP and i-Ready.
  • Ability to translate standards and assessment data into actionable learning objectives and instructional plans.
  • Ability to balance engagement, age-appropriateness, and parent-perceived educational value in book selection.
  • Skill in mapping reading, writing, and thinking skills to specific literary works.
  • Capacity to logically structure book content into in-class instruction and independent reading portions.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree or higher in Education, English Education, or a related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Identify books that are engaging, age-appropriate, and perceived by parents as educationally valuable.
  • Ensure selected texts are suitable for teaching targeted reading and writing skills.
  • Clearly delineate which portions of each book will be covered during class instruction and which sections are to be completed as independent reading outside of class.
  • Build an ELA reading and writing course syllabus aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
  • Integrate key assessment frameworks, including MAP, i-Ready, and state-level standardized tests.
  • Map core reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to selected literary works.
