Benefits Eligible Full-Time Benefit Eligible Work Shift Day - 8 Hour or less Shift (United States of America) Department 7720 Respiratory Therapy The EKG Technician is responsible for performing and managing electrocardiograms (EKGs) to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions. This role involves direct patient interaction, accurate test administration, and proper documentation while maintaining patient comfort and safety. QUALIFICATIONS License/Certification Required: BLS Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to remain calm and professional with patients Basic computer and electronic medical record (EMR) skills Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team Ability to operate EKG and monitoring equipment preferred. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Performs and manages EKGs. Prepares patients for procedures by explaining the process and positioning electrodes correctly. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots EKG equipment. Ensures accurate recording and documentation of test results. Verifies patient information and maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan of Provision of Care. Performs other duties as assigned.
