About The Position

The EKG Technician is responsible for obtaining accurate and reliable EKGs and arrhythmia testing for physician interpretation. The individual is responsible for application and instruction of arrhythmia detection recorders and must recognize acute diagnosis and initiate emergent protocol. The EKG Technician performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Completion of a technical program in a medical field; or completion of EKG class provided by Marshfield Clinic Health System with the expectation of scoring 80% or better on the basic EKG Interpretation test within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid. This is a condition of employment. Employee must immediately notify his/her manager or the Health System’s Compliance Officer if he/she is threatened with exclusion or becomes excluded from any federally funded program

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in one of the following courses: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or First Responder.
  • One year experience in a healthcare field.
  • EKG technician certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or National Health career Association (NHA).
