About The Position

The Member Portal and Services Team Lead role offers a unique opportunity to shape the direction and success of highly visible, member‑facing platforms that directly impact the customer experience. You’ll help stabilize and modernize critical platforms, support strategic initiatives and foster a delivery culture centered on clarity, predictability, and continuous improvement—while making a tangible difference in how members engage with our digital services. Preferred Experience and Skills: Comfortable leading a team for high-visibility initiative Experience leading collaboration across product, engineering and business stakeholders 1-year of experience leading teams and providing technical mentorship Offshore collaboration experience preferred AI & Tooling Expectations: Ability to coach team on applying AI in development workflows Experience with Co-Pilot and Claude JavaScript / Node / React Note: This is a fully remote role; however, onsite interviews at our Chattanooga, TN headquarters are required. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Sciences related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 year - Experience with information technology concepts, application development and/or enterprise system maintenance methodology, terminology, and standards required
  • 5 years – Systems maintenance and/or programming experience required
  • 3 year - Expert working knowledge of at least one programming language and/or one enterprise system in use at BCBST
  • Knowledge of information technology concepts, methodology, terminology, and standards.
  • Proven Skill to develop and/or maintain an enterprise IT system
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in one or more enterprise IT systems
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office and email skills are required
  • Adaptive to high pace and changing environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers.
  • Must be willing to adjust schedule to plan and perform maintenance and upgrades outside of business hours and be part of an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of a team with a focus on the maintenance and development of systems and supervising system modifications.
  • Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work.
  • Provides staff management oversight including hiring, promoting, or making recommendations for staff.
  • Conducts performance reviews and assessments, manages performance, engages in skills assessment, and promotes professional development of staff.
  • Directs, motivates, and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth, and ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
  • Ensures adherence to policies, plans, objectives, budgets and staffing allocations.
  • Manages and tracks team-level project details and serves as the technical subject matter expert and provides leadership during periods of transition.
  • Employees may be required to participate in a weekly on-call rotation.
