About The Position

This hybrid role leads day‑to‑day production while owning site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) coordination. The position drives a proactive safety culture; ensures compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental requirements; and delivers production results for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The leader plans and assigns work, develops people, runs Gemba, removes bottlenecks, and coordinates investigations, training, and corrective actions following incidents or nonconformances. The time split flexes with business needs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in manufacturing with at least 1–2 years in front‑line leadership (Lead/Supervisor). Experience in metal fabrication, assembly, or paint preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA programs (HazCom, LOTO, PIT, PPE, incident reporting). Strong investigation/root‑cause skills.
  • Demonstrated results using KPIs to drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost; experience with 5S/standard work and daily management.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools (email, spreadsheets, ERP dispatch lists); strong written and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30‑Hour (General Industry) or ability to obtain within 6 months; First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001/14001 or equivalent management systems.
  • Train‑the‑Trainer experience (forklifts, LOTO, HazCom) and/or leadership of safety committees.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a safety‑first culture; model safe behaviors and hold the team accountable every shift. Lead Safety Talks, Near‑Miss/Good‑Catch programs, and 5S/housekeeping standards.
  • Manage OSHA programs: incident reporting and OSHA 300/300A logs; Hazard Communication (SDS/labels); LOTO; machine guarding; powered industrial trucks; PPE; ergonomics; hearing conservation; and respiratory protection (as applicable).
  • Conduct and document risk assessments/JHAs, safety inspections, and layered process audits; track findings to on‑time closure.
  • Lead/coordinate incident investigations using root‑cause methods (5‑Why, fishbone); implement and verify effectiveness of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Own EHS training matrix; schedule and deliver required onboarding/annual refreshers (e.g., HazCom, LOTO, PIT, BBP, PPE, emergency response); maintain compliant records.
  • Coordinate environmental tasks appropriate to the site (e.g., waste classification and manifests, universal waste, used oil, stormwater housekeeping, paint booth filters, air permits coordination with corporate EHS as needed).
  • Maintain emergency preparedness: drills, alarm audibility/visibility checks, evacuation maps, spill kits, first‑aid/CPR coverage; partner with Facilities on testing and inspections. (Keep alignment with approved alarm/drill practices and NFPA requirements as implemented by the site.)
  • Serve as point of contact for regulators/insurers/auditors alongside Plant Manager; support corporate or customer EHS requests.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign work to meet SQDC targets; monitor floor status, remove constraints, revise plans, and communicate changes.
  • Ensure products meet Jamco quality standards; escalate nonconformances, lead containment, and drive corrective actions with Quality/Engineering.
  • Drive continuous improvement (5S, standard work, visual controls, quick changeovers); lead Gemba walks and tier meetings with actionable KPIs.
  • Develop the team: train/cross‑train, certify to skills matrices, coach performance, document conversations and disciplinary steps per policy.
  • Partner cross‑functionally (Maintenance, Materials, Quality, HR) to hit daily throughput, on‑time delivery, and cost targets while maintaining a safe workplace.
