Healthcare Benefits eligible on day one of employment 12 annual paid holidays; vacation eligible at day 30 of employment Climate-controlled building out of the elements Tuition reimbursement benefit 401K with company match POSITION SUMMARY Drive constant EHS compliance with emphasis on environmental tasks. Position will work primarily with management of metals recycling / scrap program, hazardous waste program, non-hazardous waste (e.g., used oil and absorbents), and operation of the wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities include coverage of both Indianapolis sites.

Requirements

  • Follow all safety and EHS policies and procedures.
  • Follow all GE expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Holds or willingness to obtain a state wastewater certification within 24 months of accepting position.
  • Obtain and maintain RCRA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials certifications (within 6 months of start date).
  • Maintain Forklift Operator's License or obtain immediately.
  • Maintain quality workmanship with attention to details at all times.
  • Evaluate quality problems that inhibit the process and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new methods and / or customer satisfaction.
  • Must display good communication skills, both written and oral, in the English language.
  • Computer skills to include proficient navigation of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Maintain records and perform related duties in assigned department.
  • Cooperative in meeting schedules and customer satisfaction.
  • Display teamwork attitude towards others in department and facility.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance and work reasonable amount of overtime as needed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in scrap building, hazwaste building, wastewater, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and support business initiatives.
  • Daily collection of scrap chips and turnings in preparation of pickup by recycler.
  • Coordinate pickup of scrap with designated vendor and ensure proper loading of totes onto truck and completion of appropriate paperwork.
  • Coordination and execution of monthly and annual fire extinguisher and fire system inspections.
  • Coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments, including handling of drums from the satellite storage areas to the 90-day storage locker and pickup of empty drums from workstations.
  • Daily entry / access to various Gensuite Modules.
  • Ensure calibration of EHS critical equipment (e.g., wastewater pH meters, flow meters, air monitoring equipment, etc.)
  • Conduct weekly hazardous waste inspections and implement corrective actions as applicable.
  • Coordinate and execute forklift classroom training and hands-on certification
