DESCRIPTION: Join our EHS team to make a meaningful impact on workplace safety, environmental compliance and physical security at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As an EHS Supervisor, y ou will provide leadership and technical expertise in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) programs, ensuring compliance, strengthening the site's safety culture, and protecting employees, the environment, and company assets. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement effective solutions, and contribute directly to our mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in EHS, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, DOT)
  • Strong expertise in chemical, biological, and hazardous materials management
  • Experience leading EHS staff and programs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, HAZOPS, and job hazard analyses
  • Proficiency in accident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Strong knowledge of waste management regulations and RCRA requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working across all organizational levels
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills a plus
  • Experience with EHS management systems
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and participate in site emergency response programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years in an EHS role.
  • Experience in chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and WWTP operations.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • High professionalism and integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong English communication abilities.
  • Comply with all EHS policies and GMP requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, audit-ready work areas.
  • Support KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate risks proactively and embrace change.
  • Engage in continuous training and development.

  • Professional certifications such as CIH, PE, CHMM, or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise EHSS personnel assigning work, providing coaching, and ensuring performance and training compliance.
  • Provide EHSS support for Operations, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain departments.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and corrective action development.
  • Support regulatory, client, and corporate audits.
  • Conduct environmental compliance audits and drive continuous improvement of EHSS programs.
  • Lead Environmental programs and personnel.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs.
  • Oversee wastewater discharge, raw and potable water operations to ensure compliance with permit conditions, sampling requirements, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Prepare and maintain environmental permits, reports, and inspection responses.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agency inspections, including federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Conduct safety assessments and equipment reviews.
  • Coordinate Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PHRSRs).
  • Develop safety programs such as LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, electrical safety, and risk management.
  • Assist with OH exposure and risk assessments.
  • Recommend engineering controls and containment strategies.
  • Participate in containment evaluation teams.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training.
  • Create audit programs and performance metrics.
  • Support new project risk assessments.
  • Develop and review the site Security Program.
  • Ensure compliance with physical security policies and laws.
  • Serve on Workplace Anti-Violence and Weapons Policy response teams.
  • Lead contracted security personnel; ensure training compliance.
  • Manage security budgets.
  • Manage of Security Service Contract Ensure operation and optimization of all security systems.
  • Lead security upgrade capital projects.
  • Manage budgets for urgent repairs.
  • Represent the site during DEA compliance visits.
  • Collaborate with Quality on security procedures.
  • Conduct DEA audits.
  • Serve as liaison during emergency events (hurricanes, earthquakes).
  • Support dispensary and emergency coordination activities.
