About The Position

The candidate for this position must desire to work and grow within the Environmental Health and Safety field. This position must establish a solid understanding of the principles of wastewater treatment processes. This position will support all aspects of the environmental health and safety program as well as continuous improvement projects to ensure TTM excels in this realm. The position reports to the site EHS manager.

Requirements

  • Must establish solid understanding of the principles of wastewater treatment processes and their applications.
  • Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and effectively applies to wastewater treatment discipline.
  • Must possess good interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to multitask and lead by example.
  • Good mathematical skills, good computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook (email)
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Must also be a fast learner.
  • Available for calls from off-shift supervisors after office hours
  • Read and understands specifications and procedures
  • Has good reading vision and is able to sit for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Due to ITAR requirements, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function of this position.
  • 2+ years in an EHS role in a manufacturing setting

Nice To Haves

  • Four Year Degree in a related field preferred, but not required
  • First Aid response training a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate WWT operators.
  • Supervises WWT maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of equipment; verifies proper implementation of WWT preventive maintenance plan as well as the work order issuance for any corrective maintenance whenever required.
  • Assists in all Process Engineering Matters related to WWT and EHS
  • Maintains accurate records of WWT processes, inspections, and compliance reports to ensure conformance with all environmental regulations.
  • Ensures proper calibration and maintenance of WWT monitoring equipment is maintained.
  • Coordinates maintenance and troubleshooting of WWT equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Analyze safety metrics to identify trends and establish improvement projects and procedures to reduce future risk.
  • Administers divisional environmental programs, including hazardous waste, stormwater, air emissions, TRI, Tier II, and chemical management programs to ensure full compliance.
  • Assist in the management of wastes and reclaim streams to ensure proper handling and disposal.
  • Review capital projects to ensure employee EHS concerns are being addressed
  • Develop and analyze data to create predictive models for use in future employee health and welfare projects and training opportunities.
  • Manage the fire protection systems by working with contractors to schedule testing and repairs.
  • Work with production to be proactive with any design/process changes that will have an EHS impact.
  • Conducts environmental, health & safety site evaluations in conjunction with the EHS department to develop efficient site compliance strategies
  • Conduct safety drills and ensure the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Develop and conduct monthly impactful health and safety training sessions.
  • Develops and implement standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and emergency response plans for spills, overflows, and equipment failures.
  • Coordinates drills to ensure readiness for environmental or safety incidents.
  • Responsibilities include the reporting of all accidents, near misses and safety concerns.
  • Perform job duties utilizing the required and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Full participation in safety training and the ability to understand and follow the directions identified in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), PPE Assessments, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and all Safety Procedures and alerts.
  • Facilitates and attends meetings, communicates regularly with managers and supervisors, suggests and composes procedural changes, attends special training, maintains a clean, safe work environment and communicates to supervisors’ safety hazards and issues.
