About The Position

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Supervisor assists with the management of our safety programs across a network of 13 warehouses in Illinois. The EHS Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with state and federal regulations (OSHA), assisting EHS Director with worker's compensation loss control efforts, and fostering a culture of safety excellence within the organization.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, risk assessment, and worker's compensation laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and make informed decisions to improve safety performance.
  • Proficient in using EHS training software and tools for data management, incident reporting, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering EHS training programs.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing safety initiatives that result in improved safety performance and reduced incidents.
  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of Occupational Safety & Health Experiance
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to determine “root cause” of problem and determine corrective action.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, KPI reporting, Microsoft Office suites and Excel Spreadsheet software.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight of all matters related to EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the highest level of safety for all employees, contractors, and visitors across the 13 Illinois warehouses.
  • Provide support to the development, implementation, and management of safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental standards. Help ensure RJW’s Safety Rating (DART) is achieved and maintained.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to enhance overall safety performance. Keep current and accurate records regarding incident tracking and OSHA 300 logs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure full compliance across all warehouses.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions. Ensure all Incident Analysis Reports are completed properly and work with the EHS Director and warehouse leadership to implement corrective actions to improve safety records.
  • Collaborate with warehouse managers and other stakeholders to drive a culture of safety ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure and deliver EHS training programs through Alchemy Systems, to educate employees and contractors on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist EHS Director with incident investigations to determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and prevent recurrence of incidents.
  • Assist EHS Director with the preparation required regulatory reports and documentation related to safety performance, incidents, and compliance.
  • Participate in warehouse Safety Committee’s to help ensure implementation of corrective actions brought forth by committee members.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in EHS, incorporating relevant advancements into the organization's safety programs.
  • Establish strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and relevant stakeholders.
