Summary: The Environmental Health and Safety Administrator will be responsible for ensuring that all safety and environmental standards are maintained and in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations as well as Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna policies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One to three years’ experience in health, safety and environmental field, in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be a team player and promote a team approach to problem solving
  • Highly self-motivated and flexible to changing priorities
  • Must be capable of working under pressure and with short completion times on projects, and of working flexible hours in order to meet both internal and external customer requirements
  • Intermediate computer skills required to process reports, charts, training and documents
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact
  • Must exhibit high integrity and honesty
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups
  • Must have good organizational skills to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs., walking up to 2 hours, sitting for prolong up to 2 hours

Responsibilities

  • Ensure policies and procedures are consistently applied based on the principles of the Magna Employee’s Charter, the Corporate and Divisional Health, Safety and Environmental Policy, as well as compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, including OSHA, EPA and IDNR
  • Provide support in maintaining documentation for all safety activities to reduce workplace accidents and protect associates
  • Help plan and coordinate internal and external safety training for all associates and keep record of training.
  • Help maintain written safety standards and annually update and review these policies and procedures including annual leadership reviews
  • Assist in evaluate safety and ergonomic issues in workstation design and layout and in the development stage of processes and equipment
  • Provide and maintain statistics to assist in continuous improvement in the area of workplace safety and loss control
  • Maintain documents related to all accident/incident investigation reports and enter them into our H/S database’s
  • Maintain all Health, Safety and Environmental postings and communications to employees.
  • Conduct monthly safety and environmental audits as required and report results to appropriate personnel
  • Help maintain the Health, Safety and Environmental portions of the action plan are completed in a timely fashion
  • Maintain a high profile with associates on the plant floor and be a strong advocate to ensure that associate safety and environmental concerns and issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
  • Promote and practice “safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the department
  • Work with worker’s compensation carrier and occupational health providers for appropriate, timely closure of work comp claims
  • Help maintain correct documentation and tracking of HSELinx, Workers Comp database and Workday trainings.
  • Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna’s operating principles, Magna’s Employee Charter and Core Values.
  • Provide necessary support to the Health, Safety and Environmental department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
