About The Position

At Armtec, the Supervisor of Environmental Health and Safety plans strategic improvements to our systems to ensure we operate a safe workplace and maintain our compliance with the Safety, Environmental, and Health regulations affecting our business. Our EH&S Supervisor needs to drive regular improvements to At-risk behaviors, First Aids, and Recordable Incident rates, while simultaneously driving lower year over year safety and environmental related costs.

Requirements

  • 4-Year college degree or equivalent experience in Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related science and at least 5 years of experience in an EH&S leadership role.
  • Demonstrated Strategic Leadership and process improvement experience.
  • Excellent Communication and People development Skills.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and accurate and have the ability to deal with people effectively.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, customers and/or agency representatives
  • Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Data Analysis, charts and graphs (Pareto, bar, control, flow, fishbone, Cause and Effect, etc.).formatting of usable tables and other evaluation documents and Outlook programs.
  • Physical capabilities include lifting materials up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, walking up and down steps and on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government
  • This position requires access to export control information.

Responsibilities

  • Act as main point of contact for various regulatory inspections including Department of Defense, EPA, OSHA, ATF and local governments.
  • Steward our EH&S values, and develop an EH&S vision and annual strategic EH&S plan.
  • Manage ATF Program/Licenses
  • Facility Security Officer
  • Electronic Questionnaire under Investigation Process (E Quip) – Processing application for required employees for clearance.
  • Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) – Maintain database of cleared employees for NCO.
  • Employee Awareness Training.
  • Briefing of cleared employees.
  • Conduct self-inspections of company’s security program.
  • Serves as the principal point of contact for the representatives of the Defense Security Service.
  • Submits various reports to the Industrial Security Specialist of Defense Security Service.
  • Maintain the facility badging/security system
  • Ensure compliance with ATF, OSHA (29 CFR 1910.119 – PSM), DOT, and NFPA (e.g., NFPA 495, NFPA 70E) regarding explosive storage, handling, and transportation.
  • Provides oversight of Safety Programs such as the Industrial Hygiene, Respiratory Protection Program, Lockout/Tagout Program, Confined Space Entry Program. i.e., testing noise levels and static levels.
  • Oversee LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures for high-energy equipment.
  • Oversee Process Safety Management (PSM) for operations involving hazardous chemicals and energetic materials.
  • Implement hearing conservation program due to high-decibel manufacturing environments.
  • Manage machine guarding and automation safety for presses, conveyors, and robotic systems.
  • Develop an effective ergonomics program to prevent repetitive motion injuries.
  • Teach new hires during onboarding and train all employees as needed on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT and DOD regulations.
  • Achieve and maintain a world-class safety incident rate lagging metric, and regularly improve on our safety behavior leading metrics.
  • Establish strategic plans for safety system improvements
  • Employ a risk management process for prioritizing our EH&S improvement activities.
  • Ensure safety participation on process developments and process changes to help avoid rework and ensure smooth transition to production.
  • Monitor changes to regulations and requirements, and ensure policies and procedures are changed or implemented to ensure compliance.
  • Drive waste and ineffectiveness out of our safety and environmental processes.
  • Participate in Fire, Spill, Medical, & Rescue emergency response activities as needed.
  • Perform Process Hazard Assessments for all new products and programs.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above
  • Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies
  • Obtain first responder certifications
  • Issues and monitors hot work permits and lockout/tag out permits as needed.
  • Plans and implements programs to train all employees in work site safety practices, PPE, fire prevention, spill prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports, identifying potential causes for accidents.
  • Planning and implementation safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations, including compliance with DOD standards.
  • Submits monthly and year end statistical tracking of injury rates and frequencies.
  • Schedule/maintain fire extinguisher annual inspections/lists
  • Ability to respond to emergencies during off hours as needed.
