About The Position

To provide a behavior redirection/intervention program at school site. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation: Provides behavior redirection strategies that align with restorative practice techniques and promote learning. Guides student's behavior from inappropriate to appropriate. Provides immediate and consistent interventions for students with behavioral concerns. Meets with students referred for behavioral concerns and intervenes early in the behavior cycle. Shortens the time a student is out of the classroom due to behaviors. Provides a structured format that helps students investigate their behavior(s). Helps students focus on positive choices. Attends and actively participates in the school's Health and Wellness Team as required. Returns student to the classroom, as soon as possible, with a plan for positive choices that enable learning to occur. Inputs case notes/data records in the district Student Information System. Acts as a role model in fostering students' language skills and positive behavior. Provides observation and consultation, as needed, for teachers to reduce behavior concerns in the classroom. Attends required training annually. At a minimum: Four Behavior Redirector trainings per year as determined by the department/district. New Behavior Redirectors must attend an additional orientation training. DUTIES: In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties: Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations. Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Albuquerque Public Schools. Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations. Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly. Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals. Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities. Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility. Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by an immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Licensure based on State Department of Education Regulation No. 90-5
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience with educational equipment preferred.
