About The Position

The Saint Mary's College Department of Education invites applications for a one-year visiting position beginning Fall 2026. We are particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate expertise in Educational Psychology, Special Education, and field supervision. Teaching, Research, and Service Expectations: The specific title and teaching load for this position are determined by the candidate’s academic preparation: Visiting Assistant Professor (3:4 load): This track is available to candidates who hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. It features a reduced teaching load in the fall to support the candidate’s ongoing research, scholarly publication, or creative activity. Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor (4:4 load): This track is available to candidates who are Master’s prepared. It carries a standard teaching load of 8 courses per year, with a primary focus on pedagogical excellence and student mentorship.

Requirements

  • Degree: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education, Special Education, or a related field (required for VAP track); Master’s degree in Education or a related field (required for VATP track).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and must not require visa sponsorship from the College, either now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise: Educational Psychology and/or Mild Intervention preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in K-12 classroom settings and/or clinical field supervision of pre-service teachers is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Course assignments will include Educational Psychology, Special Education strategies, and intensive field supervision of student teachers in clinical settings.
  • Service: Expectations include participation in departmental meetings and committees, as well as limited student advising.
