Your role in helping us shape the future: U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. In this position you will have the opportunity to leverage your strengths and skills to support the evolving U.S. News Education Rankings data team. As a Data Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on integral tasks related to the publication of the annual U.S. News Education rankings. In this role you will assist on communication with contacts for educational institutions and assist with statistical surveys and user management. You will also assist in the development, review and deployment of statistical surveys, peer reputation surveys, and email campaigns. Are you up to the challenge?

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in social science, statistics, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with data in any capacity, working proficiency in Excel, and working in a team setting
• Interest in data collection, entry level data analysis, and learning to use software such as Excel, Python, STATA and/or SQL to analyze data resulting in the annual U.S. News Education Rankings
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to communicate findings to stakeholders to both inform and improve processes.
• Eligible candidates must be one of the following: Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors/seniors and graduate students) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
• Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
• 3.0 GPA or above preferred

Nice To Haves

• Experience in data collection, survey research and customer service
• Experience with project management platforms (JIRA, Confluence), survey software (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey), and marketing tools (Sailthru, Zoho).
• Experience or interest in K-12 and higher education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, deployment, and implementation of statistical and peer reputation survey instruments
• Assist with email campaigns to communicate reminders and deadlines to institutions, ensuring all content is accurate and links are functional.
• Assist in various tasks involving entry-level data analysis for the Best Colleges, Best Graduate Schools, Best Online Programs, and other educational rankings done by U.S. News.
• Collaborate with data analysts and associates to support ongoing projects and ranking releases
