Your role in helping us shape the future: Join U.S. News & World Report's Health Analysis team this summer as an Outreach Specialist for the high-profile "Best Hospitals for Maternity Care" program! You'll be a key player on our team, engaging hospital executives by phone and email to support the maintenance and continued expansion of this program. By encouraging hospitals to participate in our Maternity Services Survey, you will help us collect vital data that empowers pregnant people to make safe, confident decisions about where to deliver their baby. Are you up to the challenge? 1. Drive hospital participation in the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care survey! As an Outreach Specialist, you'll be the primary point of contact for an assigned list of hospitals, connecting with hospital reps and securing participation—aim for 150+ follow-ups weekly via email and phone. You'll learn communications strategies from an experienced team and play a crucial role in growing our network and expanding the reach of the Maternity Services Survey. 2. Become a data integrity champion! You'll learn about maternity care and quality measurement. You’ll apply that knowledge in fielding hospital questions, reviewing submitted hospital data, and coordinating necessary corrections. 3. Learn about the range of information that U.S. News provides to help people make informed decisions about their health care! You may also have opportunities to assist the health team with other key initiatives, including the preparation of our sought-after annual Best Hospitals Guidebook.

Requirements

  • Eligible candidates must be one of the following: Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors/seniors and graduate students) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
  • 3.0 GPA or above preferred

Nice To Haves

  • This is an external-facing role through substantial phone and email communication with healthcare professionals at top hospitals nationwide. We're looking for candidates with proven outreach and communications experience—mastery of both phone and email is a huge plus!
  • The outreach specialist will be a part of the health analysis team. Candidates must be detail-oriented and adept at managing and manipulating vast datasets using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • We seek highly motivated individuals who can work independently but know the value of teamwork—comfortably reaching out to teammates and supervisors with questions, innovative ideas, or support needs to elevate the project.
