Education and Community Engagement Intern
About The Position
The Education and Community Engagement Interns will provide support for the day-to-day activities of the Education and Community Engagement department of the Nashville Symphony, which is responsible for the Symphony’s music education initiatives, children’s concerts, community partnerships, and adult education programs. The interns will primarily assist in the planning and implementation of community events at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and in the community, including the Nashville Symphony's neighborhood residency program Music in My Neighborhood. They will also assist in the creation of educational materials for the upcoming season’s Young People’s Concerts, and collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to promote and document Education and Community events.
Requirements
- All interns must be students at accredited colleges and universities.
- Intern must work a minimum of 100 hours per semester or an average of 10-12 hours a week.
- Required hours can be increased up to 135 hours per semester if necessary for academic credit.
- Start and end dates of the internship can vary based on the intern’s academic schedule, but must begin in May or early June and conclude by July 31st.
- Interns must be available to work some evenings and select weekends during the season.
- Interns must be high-energy, detail-oriented, team players.
Responsibilities
- Communicating to event partners
- Helping on-site with program implementation
- Attending planning meetings
- Promoting and documenting events in collaboration with the communications department
- Assisting in the creation of supporting materials and resources
