WHAT YOU’LL DO
Strategy
Have strong knowledge of various leagues such as the EPL, La Liga, US men’s and women’s soccer, and beyond, as well as an understanding of the kind of content that engages soccer fans around the world
Develop and lead editorial content strategy for assigned team communities centered around seasonal tentpole events and soccer’s biggest moments.
Develop policies and best practices for assigned team communities
Attend regular meetings to discuss and refine strategy, programming, and tactics in pursuit of our audience goals.
Community oversight
Collaborate with stakeholders to increase engagement around comments, Feed posts and overall community health, and expand our audience on all platforms with a refined SEO strategy
Conduct editorial oversight, quality control, and accountability for assigned team communities sites. In some cases, this will include close editorial oversight of original reporting and coverage of sensitive subjects.
Oversee assigned team and macro sites and associated budgets, with seasonal adjustments between tentpoles such as the World Cup, Club World Cup, transfer window, and tournaments
Work with assigned team communities to continually diversify their contributors and audiences
ExecutionExecute on sales strategies in partnership with stakeholders
Have a refined perspective on how to cover big soccer tentpoles like the World Cup, European Championship, Club World Cub, and others throughout the year and coordinate that coverage with the soccer team communities
Hire and supervise part and full-time employee site/team community producer(s)
Communication & CollaborationServe as a point of contact for assigned soccer team communities contributors to SB Nation, and provide consistent and reliable support to contributors.
Consult with programming, product marketing, legal, and other internal teams as needed to implement soccer content strategy on team communities
Conduct outreach to assigned team communities managers and staff, and facilitate exchange of story ideas, strategy, tactics, successes, opportunities, knowledge sharing, etc.
Serve as point of contact for communications to assigned team communities from Vox Media, which may include working with or communicating messages from: product, support, editorial, video, legal, and/or people & culture teams, in conjunction with centralized SB Nation leads
Writing
Produce and/or edit high-quality, timely content if necessary to supplement soccer coverage of all covered leagues while maintaining the broader voice and tone of SB Nation.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across SB Nation to ensure content goals align with strategy
WHO YOU ARE
At least 3 years experience working as a writer or editor, preferably in the soccer space
Advanced knowledge of all things soccer, especially European teams/leagues and the US men's and women's national teams
Management or mentorship experience
Demonstrated skills in content strategy, handling budgets, providing editorial assistance, SEO, and digital content creation best practices
Ability to take direction, meet deadlines, and work independently within a collaborative, team environment
Incredible attention to detail

Requirements

• At least 3 years experience working as a writer or editor, preferably in the soccer space
