About The Position

An Eddy Current Operator is responsible for performing the Eddy Current inspection method in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures. This position is responsible for ensuring that all materials inspected meet the quality standards set by SeAH Steel USA, LLC. This position will require working within SeAH’s goals and team structure and contribution to the Overall Safety Program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • 1 year of experience in OCTG pipe inspection industry.
  • At least a Level I certificate in EC. Level II certificate is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe inspection industry.
  • Successful completion of pre-screen drug test and physical.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
  • The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

  • Level II certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects steel tubes for conformance to customer specifications, using eddy current testing equipment: Reads work order to determine tube tolerance specifications required by customer and type of electric inspection coil to use for tube inspecting.
  • Calibrate and properly run Eddy Current equipment.
  • Organize and report results of Eddy Current test.
  • Accurately fill out/record applicable paperwork
  • Perform all applicable inspection functions to the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A and API.
  • Separate pipe that needs further evaluation (prove-up) ensuring material is properly segregated.
  • If he/she is certified with a level I, he/she needs to report to another Inspector level II for acceptance/rejection of material.
  • Periodically cycles sample tube through coil to verify standard operation of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
