About The Position

Lying just inland between the State's coastal mountain ranges and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Adventist Health Reedley has been serving the Central Valley since 2011. We are comprised of a 49-bed acute care hospital and 60 clinics in 27 rural communities with primary and specialty care services. Reedley is a perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts as it is located in the central San Joaquin Valley portion of California, close to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. In addition to the beautiful landscape, it also offers a great cost of living and close-knit communities. Job Summary: Assists in providing direct, and in-direct patient care under direction of appropriate personnel or leadership(e.g registered nurses or providers). Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation. Acts as a clinical resource for students, those being oriented and volunteers. Performs within the level of their scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Training (AEMT) or Intermediate EMT certification (EMT-Int) or Paramedic license (EMT-P) in state of practice: Required (National Registry Preferred)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Healthcare Provider or equivalent: Required
  • National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent: Required in CA
  • California DMV Medical Examiner (DMVME) or Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC): Required in CA
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older: Required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification or equivalent: Required within 6 months for CA and within 90 days for OR
  • EMT-ADV OR EMT-Int OR PM: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Three years' full time experience in a 911 system: Preferred
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Preferred in CA and OR

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation.
  • Performs skin punctures and venipunctures within scope of practice.
  • Collects, records and communicates basic patient data, current and changing status.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (ECG, EKG).
  • Assists in cast or splint applications, assists nurse or physician with lavaging overdoses, tests patients' visual acuity, and makes proper crutch adjustments as needed.
  • Cleans, inspects, assembles and sterilizes trays and equipment in accordance with established departmental procedures.
  • Takes immediate and appropriate action upon occurrence of emergency situation within job description and policies.
  • Participates in continuing/advanced education which demonstrates employee commitment to improving capabilities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
