ED Technician, Hanford ED, Per Diem, 12-Hour Night Shift
About The Position
Located in a tight-knit community in Kings County, Adventist Health Hanford has been serving the Central Valley since 1965. We are comprised of a 173-bed hospital and many outpatient clinics with primary and specialty care services. Hanford residents are proud of their city's historic charm and family-friendly atmosphere. Within an hour's travel time, Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks can be enjoyed. Job Summary: Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.
Requirements
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT) or Paramedic (PM): Required
- All associates receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
- Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred
Responsibilities
- Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
- Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
- Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care.
- Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
- Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
- Records and collects specimens.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
