About The Position

The Registered ED Nurse is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient across all age groups (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) using the nursing process. This includes planning and carrying out nursing care to meet spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs, either through direct performance or by leading subordinate personnel. The role involves providing a wide range of patient care services, administering medications, managing patient admissions and discharges, and educating patients and families. The nurse is also expected to respond to codes and emergencies, perform quality control, manage narcotics, update patient charts, handle billing documentation, copy transfer papers, and report patient conditions to incoming shifts, as well as notify supervisors, doctors, and families of changes in patient condition. Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs of each patient: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric, using the nursing process
  • Plan the nursing care needed to meet those needs, including the spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs
  • Carry out the plan of care through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel
  • Provide a range of patient care, including IV lines, catheters, nasal gastric tubes, application of splints and dressings, peripheral blood glucose monitors, O2 setups, cardiac care, and monitoring vital signs
  • Administer IV, IM and oral medications
  • Responsible for admission and discharge of patient along with patient and family teaching
  • Respond to codes and emergencies
  • Administer quality control
  • Count narcotics
  • Update patient charts
  • Stamp card for charges
  • Copy transfer papers
  • Report patients’ condition to incoming shift
  • Notify supervisor, doctor, and family of change in patient condition
