The ED Care Technician is responsible for the application and removal of casts, including complex casting and orthopedic splints and devices, within the Emergency Department. This role also involves providing basic patient care, such as taking vital signs, performing EKGs and cardiac monitoring, phlebotomy, bedside lab testing (CLIA), and assisting patients with activities of daily living. Further duties include specimen collection (including assisting with pelvic exams), basic respiratory therapy, wound care, performing CPR, and observing patients for physical and emotional changes. Additionally, the technician is responsible for transporting patients via stretcher or wheelchair to other departments, stocking supplies, and performing housekeeping duties.
