The Student Assistant will support a faculty research project in the Department of Economics at NY during the summer term. The student will work with a faculty member to identify Real-World Economic Inequality around the U.S., collect data, and perform a content analysis that could lead to an academic publication. Responsibilities will include conducting online research and meeting weekly with the faculty member to discuss the project.

Requirements

  • Proficient in LaTeX or other word processing software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Develop initial chapter outlines and structure.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to gather relevant research and source material.
  • Collect, process, and format data for analysis.
  • Design and produce visualizations and graphs to effectively support and illustrate analytical findings.
  • Draft and revise full chapter manuscripts, integrating feedback from regular one-on-one consultation meetings.
  • Typeset the final manuscript using LaTeX, ensuring a professional, publication-ready format for the book.
