About The Position

Under general supervision at an advanced level determines initial and ongoing eligibility for all programs of assistance, including but not limited to Supplemental Nutrition assistance Program (SNAP), multiple Medicaid categories, Emergency Assistance (EA), Low Income Energy Assistance Programs (LIEAP), School Clothing Assistance (SCA), while meeting deadlines and complying with Federal and State policies and office procedures. Conducts face to face and telephone interviews and travels to client locations as necessary to evaluate applications and determine eligibility for all programs of assistance. Works closely with supervisor providing input. Serve as a lead worker of unit, Assign and review work of others. Mandatory overtime may be required for this position. Ohio, Brooke, and Hancock Counties

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail, or clerical work may substitute for the required training at the rate of one (1) year for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.
  • Additional experience as defined below may substitute for the training at the rate of one (1) year for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.
  • Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in a public or private social welfare agency or related experience in interviewing or evaluating claimants for assistance, veteran's or unemployment benefits, insurance or similar programs operating under established criteria for eligibility.
  • Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
  • A valid driver's license may be required.
