About The Position

If you’re looking to gain hands-on experience at a leading publisher where creativity, collaboration, and storytelling come to life, ABRAMS may be the perfect place to start your career journey. As the first U.S. publisher dedicated to art and illustrated books—and an industry leader in visual and narrative publishing—ABRAMS is seeking an eCommerce & Special Projects Intern to join our eCommerce & Engagement team as part of our Summer Internship Program commencing on June 2, 2026. Over the course of this immersive, unpaid program (offered for academic credit only), interns will gain meaningful insight into the world of book publishing while contributing to real projects that drive our business forward. You’ll learn alongside experienced professionals, develop practical skills in your area of interest, and participate in opportunities designed to broaden your understanding of the publishing industry. Our goal is to help prepare the next generation of publishing talent while fostering a passion for books, art, and culture. The eCommerce & Special Projects Intern supports the eCommerce, Backlist, Consumer Engagement, and Special Projects team by contributing to customer communications, email and campaign performance analytics, and content operations projects. This internship is structured around several mini-projects and includes hands-on work in ecommerce sales and marketing support, reporting, process documentation, and cross-functional special projects. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited academic institution. This internship is not open to recent graduates.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with analytics reporting and/or dashboards is a plus.
  • Comfort working with data (defining KPIs, pulling/organizing campaign results, and summarizing insights).
  • Strong writing skills and attention to tone and accuracy for customer-facing communications.

Responsibilities

  • Support AI-assisted workflows for customer email communication (e.g., mapping email categories/intent, drafting response templates, and defining escalation rules).
  • Prototype and document an AI-assisted email workflow (steps, prompts, inputs/outputs, guardrails, and clear human-review handoffs).
  • Establish a basic process for tracking and analyzing email/campaign performance; define core KPIs and build a simple tracking file or dashboard using existing tools.
  • Contribute to at least one small email improvement experiment (e.g., subject line, send-time, or content test) and summarize insights and recommendations.
  • Support content operations projects, including helping plan and execute Issuu/content migration with a structured approach (audit, naming conventions, SOPs/checklists, and progress tracking).
  • Draft business presentations and written summaries that synthesize findings into decision-support recommendations and next steps.
  • Assist in special projects, including creating PowerPoint presentations, timelines, workflows, and documentation.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.
  • Learning and networking with ABRAMS employees, publishing professionals, and fellow interns during this internship experience for academic credit
  • Gaining hands-on exposure to the publishing industry, from concept to finished product
  • Supporting research, project work, and day-to-day tasks within your assigned department
  • Contributing ideas and providing creative input on department projects
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and learning about various areas of the publishing business
  • Participating in workshops and discussions designed to deepen your understanding of publishing trends and processes
  • Receiving coaching, mentorship, and feedback from experienced ABRAMS professionals
