About The Position

The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Investment Banking / Private Placements Vice President (VP) is a senior level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the equity capital markets. The role offers exposure to all aspects of capital raising for private companies, specifically focused on private placements through IPO, across origination, structuring and execution of transactions. The successful candidate will work closely with senior bankers, other product specialists and coverage teams on complex transactions in a fast-paced, global environment.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, private equity or related financial services
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, or closely related areas of Business Administration
  • Strong financial modeling and presentation skills, proficient in MS Office Suite and prior use of market databases (Pitchbook, Bloomberg, Capital IQ) preferred
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with large corporate clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities products
  • Series 7, 79 and 63 preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assume significant levels of responsibility for the various phases of project and transaction execution, new business development and overall growth of the firm
  • Work with senior-level team members (ECM, Corporate & Investment Banking, Risk, Legal, Operations) and external partners (Investors, External Counsel) to guide clients through the equity capital raising process and execution of a deal from launch to close
  • Driving execution of private placement offerings for both growth and pre-IPO clients, as well as other solutions like secondary offerings
  • Evaluate company’s financial performance compared to overall industry and market trends
  • Drive dialogue with institutional investors to understand their mandates and appetite for various sectors and structures
  • Prepare materials for pitches and live deals
  • Draft in-depth economic and statistical analysis on market data such as deal volume and pricing to detect overall market and industry trends to create deliverables and discussion materials for client meetings
  • Oversee work being performed by analysts and associates assigned to projects and transactions
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
