About The Position
The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echocardiograms and related cardiovascular studies. This role ensures accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic results in accordance with clinical standards and established protocols.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience OR completion of an accredited certification program
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
Nice To Haves
- Hospital-based echocardiography experience
- Pediatric and neonatal echocardiography experience
Responsibilities
- Perform echocardiography studies including: Transthoracic 2D M-Mode Color-flow Doppler Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) Stress and pharmacological echocardiography
- Conduct additional cardiac diagnostics such as: EKG Holter monitoring (setup, analysis, and monitoring) Cardiac stress testing
- Operate cardiac diagnostic equipment including: Echocardiographs Stress testing systems Electrocardiographs Holter monitors
- Utilize healthcare information systems for scheduling, documentation, and billing
- Provide age-appropriate care for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Apply infection control and aseptic techniques
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and proper preparation during procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of all diagnostic studies
- Support clinical education and preceptorship when assigned
- Perform additional duties within scope of practice
