FLSA StatusNon-ExemptJob Role SummaryThe Echocardiography Technologist administers routine/stress echocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients, recognizing any abnormal/normal echo patterns by 2-Dimensional, M-Mode, or Doppler echographs.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesProactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development, and Excellence.Assumes the responsibilities specified by the Technical Director and is responsible for the performance of clinical examinations and other tasksExplains echocardiogram procedures and risk factors to patientsResponds promptly and efficiently to medical emergencies which may ariseInitiates and/or assists in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as well as assisting in code situationsResponsible for preparing final report and mailing to proper destinationAdministers routine/stress echocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients, recognizing any abnormal/normal echo patterns by 2-Dimensional, M-Mode, or Doppler echographsProduces copy of CD of echo images for computer storage or teaching purposesConducts bedside echocardiograms in NICU, intensive care units, on medical floors, or in emergency roomDiscusses abnormal tests, both stress and echo, with physiciansUses off-line computer to quantify abnormalitiesStudies heart physiology to determine normal/abnormal patternsTransports equipment to appropriate locations and conducts tests bedside for in-hospital patientsPerforms pre/post exercise stress echograms and analyzes data on computerAlters activities/behaviors to reflect/ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neo-natal, adult) as described in the area/unit age specific and/or job specific competencies.Maintains age specific and job specific competencies as described according to department/area and unit specific competencies
