About The Position

The Early Intervention Service Coordinator provides service coordination for children from birth to age three enrolled in the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program and supports their families and caregivers. This position ensures compliance with federal and state regulations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and operates within the Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) serving a multi-county catchment area. This role involves managing a caseload, facilitating evaluations and assessments, and developing functional Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams. Service Coordinators arrange and monitor early intervention services, support transitions, and utilize community resources to meet child and family outcomes. Work requires travel within the catchment area and adherence to established timelines and procedural safeguards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, Psychology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional experience working with the population served OR Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of professional experience working with the population served OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial contacts with families to explain program requirements, gather intake information, and ensure procedural safeguards are followed.
  • Coordinate eligibility determination by scheduling multidisciplinary evaluations, collecting documentation, and participating in team decisions.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) with families and team members, ensuring compliance with timelines and consent requirements.
  • Authorize and arrange early intervention services as outlined in the IFSP and assist families in accessing providers and resources.
  • Monitor service delivery through review of provider notes, family feedback, and quality assurance activities to ensure best practices.
  • Facilitate ongoing IFSP reviews and modifications based on child progress and family needs, documenting all updates accurately.
  • Provide families with education, coaching, and resources to support child development within natural environments and daily routines.
  • Identify and coordinate community resources, medical providers, and other supports to address family priorities and enhance outcomes.
  • Lead transition planning for children approaching age three, including referrals, meetings, and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data collection, reporting, and record updates in accordance with program standards.
