About The Position

As part of the Gastonia Parts Plant team, you are responsible for checking, sampling, testing, and recording information and adjusting the chemical baths on the parts washi line, E-Coat line, Powercoat, and wastewater pre-treatment system. The candidate for this position will have a passion for process improvements, a keen eye to detail, and love numbers. Requirements

  • Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift operator’s certification in accordance with OSHA standard for forklift performance or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days.
  • Basic PC/PLC and electronic controls knowledge.
  • Must presently hold a journeyman/woman classification in a skilled trades occupation as listed in the contract OR Must have served in a bona fide apprenticeship of four (4) years-8,000 hours-and hold a certification which substantiates his/her claim of such service, and holds a certification of qualifications in such trade, OR Must have eight (8) years of practical experience in the skilled trade or classification in which he/she claims Journeyman’s designation and can prove same.
  • Authorized lock out/tag out technician.
  • Desire a grade I or II licensed Physical / Chemical wastewater operator with powder coating experience.
  • Must obtain Waste Water certifications within one year
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
  • Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow a highly detailed set of instructions in taking samples and performing chemical and analysis
  • Record test information into a book or input into a computer
  • Adjust chemical baths as needed per instructions both written and oral
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system and perform repairs and modifications of equipment
  • Work with paints, solvents, and chemicals – be physically able to move and/or lift drums and other chemical containers
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor, utilize TOS in all work areas as applicable
  • Ensure hazardous waste sludge is managed and handled in a compliant manner
  • Attend on and off-site training as scheduled.
  • Successfully complete required training for managing hazardous materials and waste according to local, state and federal regulation.
  • Acquire HAZMAT training to respond to chemical spills in the work area.
